Amelia's Birthday
Since Sunday we have a 4-year old in our house. The excitement had been building up and then the day finally came. Sunday started with snow; and not just any snow, the biggest flakes you have ever seen fell from the sky. Luckily it did not last. Amelia got to pick breakfast (pancakes with chocolate chips), but was way too excited to eat. After church and lunch, she finally got to unwrap presents, which she did very businesslike. In the afternoon we had a party with her friends. We did an art project, played some games and ate cake. She wanted a "My little Pony"-Cake in, you guessed it, pink. The kids liked the cake and all had seconds. After that more presents. All in all, a lot of fun and a good day for Amelia.

The toilet is back!
We are now nearly three weeks into the remodel and today the plumber installed the toilet. We are very excited. Everything has been moving along pretty good. At this point I don't care, because the toilet is back. Last weekend I painted the walls. The bathroom is blue again. A little deeper than before. It puts you in the mood for the swimming pool.
A few weeks ago my washer broke as well, so we have been truly dirt and smell challenged. If you have to do laundry by hand only so much get's done (yes, I could have gone to the laundromat, but I have been tied to the house with the construction). But by the end of next week, we will have a complete bathroom and a new washer!
Spring has been coming slowly to Seattle. It is on average a little warmer, the crocuses are in bloom and in some spots even the daffodils are out. Mine are lacking behind, since the bulbs did not get into the ground until the end of January; I was slow in fall and then the ground was frozen. Even with a few snow days here and there Spring is coming. I walked around Greenlake yesterday and I saw 5 turtles on the log - for all non-Satellites, there is a log on the west side of the lake, where you can always see water turtles enjoying the sun. The Bold Eagles are out, too. We have been seeing our local Mathews Beach one on the way to school, as well, as the one at Greenlake. The crows have been making a big fuss about it.
I hope it stays nice for a while, but they have been promising snow again for the weekend. We will see. But hey, I have a toilet!
