Halftime
Well, a few days ago I turned 40 and I figure this might as well be halftime (I hope). On my birthday we had dinner at a great little restaurant, called "Divine". They portray themselves as modern Greek cuisine with a Northwest touch, which really sums it up very well. No standard tourist fare here. The girls did not like the adult environment, i.e. no crayons and kids menu, but started to be happy once they got their fries and pita bread. We will definitely come back, it was a great experience. And I am proud of my girls, because they were able to behave for an hour, without spilling anything, screaming or other things.
At home we had (chocolate) cake and presents. My love for cupcakes is becoming known. I got several versions of artificial cupcakes, plus cupcake recipes, and a nice, new sheet cake pan. I had my usual tea/cocktail party with my girlfriends on Saturday and I notice the tea was merely a prop, we pretty much immediately moved to Bellinis. I made a German torte with spun caramel (that did not work out so well), but it tasted great. Did you notoce, that I always have pictures of the cake, but never of people?
Now to my "life" changes. As of Sunday we are officially members at Bethany Lutheran Church at Greenlake. We had been going there for years, but never really committed. The girls like Sunday school and starting to pick up some of the stories. For me it is nice, since Sunday school is held at the same time as the regular service, so I don't have to worry about the kids and can actually focus on the service.
The other big thing in my life is, that we are remodeling our (one and only) bathroom. It started today with demolition. It is supposed to take about 4 weeks 3 weeks of which we will not have a toilet. Hooray for Honeybuckets (the Seattle company for portable toilets)! Everything including drywall is being ripped out and replaced. I hope we are not finding too many surprises. In a separate blog I will keep you updated about the events and we will have beautiful 'before and after pictures'.
