Last Days of School

The school year has come to an end and we are beginning to settle in for the "summer". At the beginning of June Marlene's school always has a Beach Day (see June blog 2007). While it was not very nice last year, it was definitely bad this year. It was around 50 F, pounding rain and wind blowing. But that did not hold us back. The June tide is very low and so we got to see many exciting sea creatures. We saw a life Moonsanil, sea stars of various sizes and colours, bright orange sea cucumbers, many different crabs, and we were sprayed by all kinds of clams.
Amelia ended school with a Picknick the same day (it was held indoors, because of the rain) and she went with a friend because I had agreed to accompany Marlene's class to the beach. Amelia had fun in her dance class, that ended as well. I think she has learnt a lot and we will definitely continue with that.
Another tradition at Marlene's school is "Field Day". Games are set up on the lower filed and the whole school has a day of fun. We were lucky that the sun was shining for that. It is wacky hair/hat day as well. This year Marlene got the presidents "hip to be fit" medal. Last year she had missed the requirements by 1 point, but this year she made it. She is very proud.
And to start the summer I got the girls some new dresses at the Sidewalk Sale in the University Village.
