What's new in Karin's Life

This blog will just deal with me. Usually it is about the girls, but I want to talk a bit about the changes in my life. As some of you might know, after 11 years I have retired from Starbucks. A few weeks ago was my last day. Several of my old coworkers came to say good bye. Thank you for all your good wishes. It was nice, that my friend Paula had her 15 year anniversary at the same time and I got to see many old friends from my early Starbucks days.
I have been doing a lot of volunteer work at Marlene's school, and so my unpaid volunteering schedule had been seriously interfering with my paid work schedule. Jason has more fieldwork, too, which complicated childcare even more. This is why I decided to cut the constant looming stress of work and everything that comes with that out of my life. So far it feels great. I have never spent weekends with my kids, because I have always been at work; and when we wanted to go somewhere, I always had to plan 3 weeks ahead. It will be nice to be able to do something spontaneous. I will miss my coworkers and some of my customers. It was always nice to do something non-children-related. I will have to find something to replace this. On the other hand, I have been making more and more cakes, something that I just love doing. I am considering turning this into a business endeavor, but I will not rush things.
