Omi's Visit

After Marlene's birthday we had finally some time to do Seattle summer things. We went to the locks to see the salmon jump. Both kids are always excited to see the huge salmon in the windows at the ladder. Off course, we went to the zoo, too. And we managed to go to the wading pool at View Ridge. We had a lot of fun during Omi's visit nad look forward for her coming back in October.

Beth's Present

Since so many of you will not be able to attend Beth's Bridal Shower, I thought I might put our present on the blog, so you can at least see what you gave her.

Marlene's Birthday

It is unbelievable, my little girl turned 5 this week! After a long time deciding what kind of party she wanted to have, Marlene settled in late May on "Pirates". Little did we know, that this would be the theme of all summer parties, due to the release of the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. Well, this way it was not difficult to get ideas and props. Like every year, my mother came from Germany to join us and Jason's mother, sister, and the cousins Katie and Sam drove up from California. Marlene had a great day. In the morning, before the party, we opened presents with the family. From 11-1pm we had her friends over for the Pirate-Party. We made Pirates Hats, listed to the story of "Roger, the Jolly Pirate", walked the plank, played musical islands and went on a treasure hunt. Off course, then we had lunch, unwrapped gifts and had cake. Did I mention it was a pirate-ship? In the evening we were joined by Paula (Marlene's godmother) for dinner.
